Increasing the efficiency of railways stands out as an important step that will contribute to both reducing logistics costs and minimizing environmental impacts. In this context, the "TCDD Loading Centers Impact Analysis and Feasibility Project" was initiated between the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE. Within the scope of the project, detailed analyses including site analyses, physical needs analysis, potential load analyses and projections, environmental analyses, competition and impact analyses were carried out for logistics centers and freight transshipment points especially in Thrace and Kocaeli Gulf regions. These analyses were blended in the feasibility report and the future regional potential of railway transportation was revealed. As a result of these studies, concrete gains were identified to increase the efficiency of TCDD operations and improve field plans, and road maps were created to achieve these gains.

This study conducted by TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE is planned to contribute to increasing the effectiveness of Turkey's investment policies in the field of railway transportation and to the sustainable development of industry and trade. Turkey, which is progressing in line with the green consensus targets, aims to further increase its competitiveness in regional and global trade by providing both economic and environmental benefits through such projects.
