A new 5-year cooperation protocol was signed between Gebze Technical University (GTU) and TÜSSİDE. Within the framework of this cooperation, researchers within TÜSSİDE will increase their academic competence at GTU, while the academic staff of the university will take part in TÜSSİDE's institutional research and education projects, and it is stated that it includes the ability of GTU graduate and doctoral students to work part-time in TÜSSİDE's research projects.
At the protocol ceremony held at the Rectorate Meeting Hall, Rector Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün signed on behalf of GTU and Institute Director Tezer Battal signed on behalf of TÜSSİDE. Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik and Prof. Dr. Ali Ata, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevat Yaman, Chief of Staff Assoc. Dr. Abdurrahman Akyol, TÜSSİDE Deputy Institute Director Selahattin Çetin, TÜSSİDE Projects Coordinator Bakı Doğa Günay and academicians also attended the protocol ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tezer Battal, Director of TÜSSİDE, stated that they prefer to work with academicians within the scope of the projects they carry out and said, "It is quite natural for us to carry out joint studies with Gebze Technical University, which is geographically closest to us, but we also see this university as a university that has discovered the values of the twenty-first century and implemented change. We also admire the work of Mr. Rector very much. In this respect, we have signed a very important cooperation study for us." Tezer Battal touched upon the importance of Gebze Technical University for our region and our country and continued his words as follows "Gebze Technical University is one of the best examples of university-industry cooperation in our country. I urge everyone to follow this university; you will see that with its qualified academic staff, it is one of the most important working models of university-industry cooperation."

Rector Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, who made a statement afterwards, stated that they are trying to turn external stakeholders into internal stakeholders with their work and said, "Our joint work with TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and other R&D centers and Organized Industrial Zone units continues.
