The capacity building phase of Erzurum Hinterland Red Meat Sector Cooperation Processes Analysis Project, which is carried out in cooperation with TUBITAK TUSSIDE and MoFAL DG TRGM (General Directorate of Agricultural Reform), was initiated with cooperation processes training. In the training and meeting held with the participation of TÜSSİDE Project team, MoFAL Project team and technical committee members consisting of experts from the private sector, universities and decision makers in the public sector, information was shared and evaluations were made on the technical issues that will be needed in the project. During the three-day training, basic concepts related to sectoral strategy, cooperatives, licensed warehousing, contracted production, value chain, organic agriculture, marketing, branding, geographical indication and clustering were conveyed to the participants. In addition, sample cooperation structures (Yalova Garden - Cluster Example, Katırlı Olive Cooperative - Cooperative Example, TAT Konserve - Contracted Production Example, Marmara Birlik - Licensed Warehousing Example) were visited as a continuation of the training. In the program, where the concepts and content shared were reinforced with practical studies; communication, motivation and team building activities were carried out to ensure that the teams and technical committee members can progress efficiently in the project journey. In addition, together with the technical committee and the project team, the bovine and ovine red meat value chain and actors were defined and quantitative and qualitative criteria that can be used to determine the hinterland boundaries were identified.
