The TÜBİTAK 1004 - Excellence Center Support Program was launched to support Türkiye's high commercialization potential research programs while maintaining scientific quality. This program aims to accelerate innovation processes by bringing together industry and academia in priority areas aligned with national goals and policies. To date, it has led more than 20 R&D programs. Increasing the number of research programs and improving the research infrastructure at higher education institutions are among the primary objectives of the program.

In line with these goals, a project was initiated between TÜBİTAK ARDEB and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE to enhance the program’s effectiveness and improve the management of its processes. Within this scope, international best practices were analyzed, detailed discussions were held with program stakeholders, and every process from the definition of the call topic to the completion of the research program was examined. As a result of these efforts, solution proposals were developed to streamline the processes.

As a result of the studies conducted, the processes of the 1004 program will be managed more effectively and efficiently, ensuring better management and monitoring of the projects under the program. Additionally, it is aimed to pave the way for a greater number of high-quality R&D applications to the program. As the number of qualified R&D activities increases, it is expected that new technological developments at the national level will contribute to enhancing Turkey’s competitive power in international arenas.
