2017 Summer Science Camps Completed

The fourth leg of the science camps, supported by the Ministry of National Education Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education and organized by TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE with the sponsorship of the Filli Boya company, has started.

"Filli Boya Science Camp", which aims to provide special education children with superior potential with a scientific perspective, support their self-confidence and help them look to the future with hope, was held between 07-11 August - 14-18 August 2017, where children in the 13-14 age group were academically trained. It included a series of training and practices that would support psychological development.

This year, specially talented children studying at Science and Art Centers were included in the Science Camp, where a total of 60 students, 30 girls and 30 boys, will participate between 07-11 August - 14-18 August 2017. In the 4th stage of the project, children had the opportunity to observe scientists working in institutes such as TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute, TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute, Earth and Marine Sciences Institute, in their working environments, chat about the work done and conduct experiments together. In addition, the students who will receive encryption training with the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM researcher team carried out workshops and educational games, mainly in the fields of science and mathematics. Within the scope of the program, the children also visited Izmit Science Center and took part in strategy development, team and coordination games and artistic activities throughout the camp.

The project aims to enable children to get out of their current environment and gain a different experience and to integrate them into life through teamwork. The camp training program is not geared towards individual games and competitive practices; It is designed in a way that emphasizes team spirit by working together in harmony. The main purpose of this project was determined to increase students' curiosity about science and emphasize the importance of research and discovery.

It also received the first prize in the Science Camps International The Peer Awards Competition, which was previously held in cooperation with TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE, ASPB and Filli Boya.
