A Science Camp was organized for Hakkari students in cooperation with the Governorship of Hakkari, Hakkari Provincial Directorate of National Education, Cinegolds and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE.
Successful 7th and 8th grade students studying in public schools in Hakkari participated in the camp, which was held as a boarding camp on August 20-26 at TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE Gebze Campus. The project, which was realized with the support of Hakkari Governorate, was based on the scientific, technological and human resources infrastructure of TÜBİTAK institutes. The camp aimed to show students that the world of science is accessible through interactive activities with scientists.
Within the scope of the program, students visited TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute, MAM Materials Institute, Earth and Marine Sciences Institute, Energy and Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Institutes and carried out experiments and educational activities with their researchers. The program also included many workshops mainly in the field of science such as Alternative Energies, Motion and Friction, Insulation, Model Airplane Making, STEM. As part of the program, students also participated in activities at Izmit Science Center and SEKA Paper Museum. Finally, the educational activities and art workshops aimed to develop students' teamwork and strategic thinking skills.
