The report of the "National Cancer Policies Workshop" organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and supported by TÜSSİDE at Green Park Hotel Istanbul on June 27-28, 2014 was published on January 5, 2015.
More than 200 doctors, nurses, researchers, technology producers and politicians attended the two-day meeting. Fifteen simultaneous workshop sessions on 15 cancer sub-topics determined by TÜBA were held with qualitative data collection techniques in which TÜSSİDE is an expert. Before the workshop, TÜSSİDE provided moderation training to professors specialized in cancer and provided moderation support during the workshop.
In his speech, Necdet ÜNÜVAR, Chairman of the Health, Family, Labor and Social Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, expressed his support and determination to implement the policy development recommendations from the workshop in the following year.

Information Note Cancer is defined as the uncontrolled and abnormal growth and proliferation of cells in one or more parts of the body. As in the world, the incidence of cancer is increasing in Turkey. In Turkey, 162,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed every year and 140,000 people lose their lives due to cancer. According to Globocan 2012 data, the rate of cancer in men and women is 245.7 and 157.50 per 100,000 people, respectively.
