In line with the strategic framework of the "National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy (NTSIS) 2011-2016", TUBITAK TUSSIDE has been working in the Eastern Black Sea Region;

contributes to the region's entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.

With the 28th Meeting of the High Council of Science and Technology, the highest decision-making body in the formulation of science and technology policies in Turkey, held on January 6, 2015, with the main agenda of 'National Innovation and Entrepreneurship System', efforts to develop the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem on a national scale were initiated.

In this direction, TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE, in cooperation with the Eastern Black Sea Project Regional Development Administration (DOKAP BKİ), has started to carry out the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Project with the aim of increasing the innovation and entrepreneurship capacity, competitiveness, income level of the region and supporting sustainable development by analyzing the current situation, problems, opportunities and potential development areas of entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in 9 provinces in the Eastern Black Sea region (Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Tokat and Trabzon), carrying out project design studies for priority intervention areas, and revealing strategic road maps; to increase the innovation and entrepreneurship capacity, competitiveness and income level of the region and to support sustainable development.

Within the scope of the project, the entrepreneurship and innovation infrastructure of organized industrial zones (OIZ) and small industrial sites (KSS), technology development zones (TDZ) and business development centers (İŞGEM), universities, SMEs and free zones in the region are analyzed, the needs of the region are identified through field interviews, surveys and workshops, and strategic road maps are prepared. In addition, cluster potential determination and cluster roadmap creation activities are carried out to increase competitiveness in the region, and system/model establishment and feasibility analyses are carried out to increase entrepreneurship and innovation capacity on a regional scale.
