Workshops were held between 28 September and 8 October 2020 within the scope of the "National Space Program Strategy and Roadmap Project" carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE.
In the workshops attended by important stakeholders of the space sector, participants' opinions and evaluations were received regarding the civil space programs and objectives of the National Space Strategy.
Studies were carried out on eight different themes in the workshops held with the methods and approaches designed by TÜSSİDE. Participants shared their individual opinions in the fields of Space and Earth Sector, Material Technologies, Launch Technologies, Space Sciences, Education and Human Resources, International Relations and Bilateral Cooperation, Space Law, Space Weather, Private Sector and Ecosystem and then evaluated these opinions in group studies.
In the workshops, firstly, the current situation was evaluated on the relevant theme, then the application areas and core competencies were evaluated, and in the last stage, in-depth and common sense-based studies were carried out towards strategic goals.
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology Mr. Mehmet Fatih KACIR, President of the Turkish Space Agency Mr. Serdar Hüseyin YILDIRIM and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE Institute Director Mr. İsmail DOĞAN attended the workshops. The workshops, which were held with representatives of universities, industry and public sector involved in space studies, and participants from many different sectors such as law and education, lasted for six days.
The results of the workshops will be analyzed and evaluated by TÜSSİDE and used in the creation of the National Space Program and Strategy.
