TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE Health Economics and Management Unit held the opening meeting of the transformation project of Private Sani Konukoğlu Hospital into a Training and Research Hospital within Sanko University in Gaziantep.
Private Sani Konukoğlu Hospital administrators and Sanko University Rector Prof.Dr. attended the opening meeting, where TÜSSİDE Chief Experts Kirstin Öztürk and Barış Çarıkçı made presentations. Ahmet Sinan participated. In his opening speech, Exam said, “Our hospital has done many successful things so far. However, as Sanko University becomes a Medical University, it needs to reach the standard of a hospital that provides education and research as well as quality healthcare services. With this project, we will determine what we need as a training and research hospital, what the relevant standards are and what path should be followed. "TÜSSİDE, one of the TÜBİTAK Institutes, will draw a scientific road map for us to reach the standards in question," he said.
Within the scope of the project, TÜSSİDE will conduct analyzes using methods such as workshops, change management surveys and field analysis with all units in the hospital and university and will develop suggestions on becoming a university hospital at international standards.
Information note:
The main reason for the recent interruption of health services in our country is the inadequacy of human resource capacity. In order to solve this problem, new regulations were made by health authorities and the opening of health-oriented universities was encouraged. Taking advantage of these incentives, many hospital groups have established health-oriented universities to train their own human resources and have chosen to complete their practices, which are an important part of health education, through private hospital affiliation or transfer. Regardless of the method of affiliation or transfer preferred, the important thing is to manage this change process correctly. While the focus of private hospitals is to provide health services, university hospitals, unlike private hospitals, have many services and missions in addition to health services, such as medical education, post-graduate specialization education, sub-branch education, conducting research and academic studies, and the obligation to be a reference health institution. For this reason, the more accurately education and research activities are associated with existing operations during this change process, the less pain will be experienced in the transition process. TUBITAK TÜSSİDE Health Economics and Management Unit provides consultancy services in the transition process from a private hospital to a university hospital and serves the sector in reorganizing the institutional structure according to international standards and the needs of the university hospital.
